Today Renault launched the Triber in India. The car priced at between INR 4.95 Lakhs and INR 6.49 Lakhs (ex-showroom) is offered in four trims, RXE, RXL, RXT and RXZ. The Triber is a seven seater MPV but priced in the range of a premium hatchback. As far as price is concerned it competes against the Maruti Suzuki Swift, Datsun Go+ and Hyundai i10 NIOS. Though it is based on the same platform as Kwid, the CMF-A platform, Renault claims to have upgraded components to the tune of 90%. The car is less than 4 meters in length and thus benefits from lower taxation. The second row of seats can be moved and and reclined to make space for the third row which can fit in two small sized adults for short journeys. With all seats up, it has a boot space of just 84 litres. However, the space can be increased to 625 litres with all seats down.
