Peugeot has unveiled the 508 HYBRID and the 508 SW HYBRID. These cars are plug-in hybrid versions of the Peugeot 508. It is powered by a 180 HP petrol “Puretech” engine combined with a 110 HP electric motor. The 508 has been provided with a 11.8 KW-h battery pack which gives the cars a pure electric range between 52 and 54 km. A 6.6 KW, 32A wall box charger can charge the batteries in 1 hour and 45 minutes.

Peugeot has provided four driving modes for the 508,

  • “Zero Emission” or pure electric mode.
  • “Sport” mode in which the car uses the engine as well as the motor to enhance driving experience.
  • “Hybrid” mode which uses the batteries and the engine intelligently to minimise emissions and maximise fuel efficiency.
  • “Comfort” mode which combines the HYBRID mode with the comfort of the controlled suspension.

The 508 HYBRID claims a mileage of 1.3 l/ 100 km (76.9 km/ l) and CO2 emissions limited to 29 gm/km.
