Tata Motors have announced the introduction of their next generation EV platform called the Ziptron. This technology has been developed to power a range of aspirational Tata Motors electric cars. The first of these cars are expected in the last quarter of FY 2020.

Ziptron is the next step by Tata Motors towards their consistent endeavour to offer new affordable technologies to the Indian consumer through commonality of systems and components to drive economies of scale. The system comprises highly efficient permanent magnet AC motors offering high performance combined with best in industry dust and water proof battery system meeting IP67 standards. The system uses an efficient high voltage system.

Tata Motors claims that the system will offer zippy performance, longer ranges and fast charging batteries. The technology also uses regenerative braking to charge the batteries on the go. The company is offering an 8 years warranty on the battery as well as motor. They claim that the battery can also be charged through a home electric point.

With this technology, we hope to usher in a new wave of eMobility in India and accelerate faster adoption of EVs, supporting the Government’s vision.”
