Transport Canada awarded certification to the Bombardier Global 5500 and 6500 business jets in September 2019. The Global 6500 will debut at the National Business Aviation Convention & Exhibition (NBAA-BACE) in Las Vegas on October 22.

David Coleal, President, Bombardier Aviation stated, “We are celebrating a significant milestone today with the entry-into-service of this exceptional aircraft, we’re proud of the work our team and our suppliers have done to deliver a technologically advanced aircraft that exceeds our customers’ expectations in terms of unparalleled comfort, superior performance and an incomparable smooth ride. The Global 6500 business jet continues to maintain the longstanding winning DNA of our Global family of aircraft, the most successful long-range business jet platform.”

The Global 6500 is powered by two Rolls Royce Pearl 15 engines specifically designed for this aircraft at Rolls Royce’s Centre of Excellence for Business Aviation engines in Dahlewitz, Germany. This engine makes the Global 6500 a smoother, more silent and cleaner aircraft. The purpose-built engines, advanced wing design and built-in systems redundancy and robustness offer superior safety and a smooth ride to its passengers. The Global 6500 is equipped with Vision Flight Deck and the industry’s leading cockpit. The aircraft offers a comprehensive avionics suite with ergonomics and aesthetics that provide pilots with outstanding comfort and control.

The Global 6500 can carry up to 17 passengers. The cabin is 1.88 m high, 2.41 m wide and has a length of 13.18 m. It’s cabin offers the Nuage chaise, a unique seating innovation. This seating adds new dimensions to the conference suite. It is alounge chair that converts into a flat surface for sleeping or banquet-style dining around the table. With its distinctive technology, the Nuage seat is ideally suited for long-range flights. The Global 6500 offers the first 4K-enabled cabin with the fastest in-flight connectivity and intuitive cabin management system to put an ultra-high-definition entertainment experience within reach.

The Global 6500 is 30.3 m long, has a wingspan of 28.7 m and is 7.8 m high. It needs a takeoff runway measuring 1,942m while for landing it needs just 682 m of runway. The aircraft has a maximum flight ceiling of 15,454 m and a cruising altitude of 12,497 m. The Pearl 15 engine produces 67.3 KN of thrust and pushes the aircraft to a top speed of 0.90 Mach and offers a phenomenal 6,600 miles range, enough to connect Hong Kong to London or Dubai to New York while allowing access at airports like London City, not accessible to many aircraft.
