Daimler India Commercial Vehicles (DICV) was established in India in the year 2012. The aim was to manufacture high quality but affordable medium and heavy commercial vehicles. The company started manufacturing medium and heavy trucks under the Bharat Benz brand name for sale in India. It also manufactures trucks under the Mercedes-Benz, Fuso and Freightliner brand names for export. In 2015, the company also started manufacturing buses under the Bharat Benz brand.

In the first half of 2020, the company has accomplished the milestone of selling 100,000 trucks in India. India is considered one of the toughest commercial vehicle markets in the world. The market is dominated by local players like Tata Motors and Ashok Leyland.
Bharat Benz manufactures and sells commercial vehicles in the 9 to 55 ton category in India. The company also manufactures school, tourist, and staff buses and bus chassis, as well as Mercedes-Benz coaches. Bharat-Benz also sold 4,500 buses as well as exported 30,000 trucks across the globe.
