Tata Altroz is the premium hatchback contender from the Indian manufacturer. The car has been received well and competes against cars like the Hyundai i20, Volkswagen Polo, Maruti-Suzuki Baleno and its clone, the Toyota Glanza.
With the advent of the new generation Hyundai i20 with a turbo-petrol engine, Tata has decided to take the competition head on. The Tata Altroz Turbo Petrol is expected to be launched by mid of January 2021 as Tata has announced an official Tata Altroz event on 13 Jan 2021.
The Altroz will be powered by a 1.2 litre inline turbo charged petrol engine derived from the Tata Nexon SUV. The engine is expected to generate 111 PS of power. It is expected to be matched to either a 7-speed DCT transmission or a 5-speed manual. This car will be the first in the Altroz line up to come with an automatic gear box.
The Turbo-petrol will be differentiated from the other lesser Altroz through badging on the rear and the grille. The car will also come in a new colour for Altroz, the Tectonic Blue from the Nexon. It is expected that the Altroz turbo petrol will cost between INR 7.99 and 8.59 Lakhs (US$ 10,945 to 11,700 ) before taxes.
