
Lord Buddha, preacher of peace and equality is revered and prayed to by a majority of people in South East Asia and India. He was born in Nepal and spent most of his life in Nepal and India spreading his message of love. A visit to major sites associated with his life are a major draw for tourists from China, Japan, Thailand and other countries from Asia.

The Indian Railways will be running a package tour onboard a luxury train from October 19 to 26. The train shall start its journey from Safdarjang Station at New Delhi and travel to Lumbini in Nepal, the birthplace of Lord Buddha, followed by Bodh Gaya where he achieved enlightenment, Sarnath where he made his first sermon and Kushinagar where he achieved Nirvana before returning to Safdarjang station. The fare includes accommodation onboard the train in either Ist Class AC or AC 2 Tier, transfers, travel by coach where required, ticket for admission to various monuments as well as food onboard the train.
The train comprises four Ist Class AC coaches, two AC 2 Tier, Two dining cars, a lounge car and pantry car. The train has a capacity to carry 160 tourists. The Ist AC package costs INR 1,23,900 (US$ 1745.00) per person while the AC 2 Tier package costs INR 1,01,430 (US$ 1429.00) per person.
