The Volkswagen Atlas is one of the most popular SUVs in the USA, Russia and the Middle East. It is built along with the Passat at Chatanooga, USA. VW America has revealed the Cross Sport version of the Atlas.

This car is on the same lines as the BMW X6 coupe SUV. It has a gently sloping rear and imposing tail lamps. There are chrome inserts and accents and a fully LED front headlamps. It is 4.90 m long, which is 13 mm shorter than the Atlas and seats five people in comfort. The Atlas Cross Sport SUV is based on the modular transverse MQB platform and hence has the same wheel base at the Atlas.

The Atlas Cross Sport is powered by either a 2.0 litre, 4 cylinder engine producing 235 PS of power or an optional V6 producing 276 PS of power. Both engines are mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission. It is also available with the 4MOTION all-wheel-drive system. The Atlas Cross Sport is capable of towing two trailers weighing up to 2.4 tons.
