XUV 300 is the sub-four meter SUV offered by Mahindra and Mahindra in India. The car competes against the likes of Tata Nexon and Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza. Presently the XUV 300 is offered with a 1.2 litre petrol engine producing 110 BHP of power and 200 N-m of torque and a 1.5 litre diesel engine producing 115 BHP of power and 300 N-m of torque.
From 01 April 2020, the BS VI emission norms will kick in India. As a result, most of the companies are racing to offer BS VI compliant vehicles. Most of the automobile manufacturers except Hyundai are planning to stop production of small diesel engine vehicles. As a result, Mahindra would be stopping production of the 1.5 litre diesel engines.

Mahindra and Mahindra have launched their first BS VI compliant product in India. This is the XUV 300 car. The car will be offered with a 1.2 litre petrol engine only in the BS VI avatar. These cars will be available in a price band between INR 8.30 Lakhs (US $ 11,370) and 11.84 Lakhs (US$ 16,164).
During the launch, Rajan Wadhera, President, Automotive Sector, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. said, “We are delighted to launch our first BS 6 vehicle. It is a milestone in our BS-VI transition journey. Despite tight timelines, we along with our suppliers, have met the challenging requirements of these tighter emission norms, much ahead of the stipulated timeline. We will progressively upgrade our entire range with cleaner emissions technology.”
