The Piaggio Group showcased the Made for India SXR 160 scooter at Auto Expo 2020. The scooter has been specifically designed for India and is manufactured at Piaggio’s plant at Baramati. It will be available with two engine displacements, 160 cc and 125 cc. Piaggio hopes that the scooter will set the benchmark in the premium scooter market in India.

The SXR 160 has an ergonomic riding position. Its premium positioning is strengthened by an over size saddle for added comfort, flat footboard, and LED lights. Aprilia is offering the SXR 160 with a multi function display, and ABS for added safety. Being a premium offering, it comes with 12″ alloy rims with stylish 5 spokes. The engine has a 3V fuel injection technology allowing it to meet the forthcoming BS VI norms. Aprilia expects to offer the scooter to the public by third quarter of 2020 with bookings commencing in August 2020.
Diego Graffi, CEO of Piaggio India stated, “Significant changes have taken place in Indian consumers’ preferences and requirements in the last few years, at Piaggio we have performed extensive analysis and design work to understand and anticipate developments, and we proudly present the new Aprilia SXR 160, a scooter destined to set a new benchmark in its segment.”
