
Hyundai India introduced the model year 2019 Elantra in New Delhi. The car is an evolution of the outgoing model with a sharper hexagonal grille. A new bumper and air dam, again with much sharper and crisp edges than the outgoing car. The grille is bound by triangular headlamps which include the LED DRL in an inverted “tick” shape. The main headlamp comprises four (quad) projector LED lamps. The rear lamps have a unique emblem design. The car has an elongated coupe shape with strong character lines accentuating the dynamic shape of the car. The 16″ wheels fill the wheel arches nicely. Hyundai is offering the Elantra in 5 colurs – Marina Blue, Polar White, Typhoon Silver, Phantom Black and Fiery Red.

Inside the cabin has been designed for the driver. The dashboard presents a multi-colour display. To make the drives enjoyable and memorable, Hyundai offers a premium Infinity Sound System with door speakers, center speakers, tweeters, amplifiers and woofers. All drivers will be able to find a comfortable driving position thanks to a 10 way adjustable power seat. Further, the steering wheel is also adjustable for both tilt and reach while a cruise control has been provided for hassle free highway drives. While the vehicle is on cruise control, the drivers can enjoy the ventillated seats which are a boon in Indian climate. Dual zone climate control and rear AC vents keep all the occupants happy. The 2,700 mm wheelbase provides a large cabin which can seat 5 in comfort. A wireless smartphone charges has also been thrown in.

The Hyundai Elantra provides ample safety to its occupants through ISOFIX seatbelts, 6 airbags, Anti Lock Braking Systems (ABS) with Electronic Brake Distribution (EBD). Speed sensitive locks keep the doors firmly shut. For ease of parking it has been provided with front and rear parking sensors with camera. Other driver aids include the Hill Assist Control, Electronic Stability Control, Vehicle Stability Management, and disc brakes at front as well as rear. The ride and handling is taken care of by McPherson struts at the front and Coupled Torsion Beam axle at the rear.
The Hyundai Elantra is powered by a 1,999 cc four cylinder petrol engine which is BS 6 compliant. This engine produces 152 HP of power at 6,200 rpm and 196 N-m of maximum torque at 4,000 rpm. The engine is coupled to either a 6 speed manual or 6 speed automatic gearbox. This power and torque is required to push a 4,620 mm long, 1,800 mm wide and 1,465 mm high car.

Coming to the USP, the Hyundai Elantra has been provided with the Hyundai Blue Link which is a cloud based service allowing the driver to interact with the car through voice control and also control several functions using a smart phone app. The New 2019 ELANTRA is equipped with 34 features including 10 exclusive India specific features which are classified under 7 services in the form of Safety, Security, Remote Operations, Vehicle Relationship Management, Geographic Information Services, Alert Services and Voice Recognition There is a Vodafone-Idea e-SIM which is complimentary for the first three years.
The Hyundai Elantra will be offered in four trim levels with prices ranging from INR 15.89 Lakhs (US$ 22,000) to INR 20.39 Lakhs (US$ 28,300).
